The main functions of this department are to :

• Plan, implement and coordinate researches on social, economic and environmental issues

• Implement the Kota Kinabalu City Hall’s aspirations through research studies

• Coordinate projects under the Local Agenda 21 concept, emphasizing the participation of the local communities, government agencies and the private sectors

The R&D department one of the implementing department of Kota Kinabalu City Friend is manned by 17 officers and staff. This department conduct survey research addressing sosio-economic and environmental issues affecting the community in the city. This department also organize exhibition to create awareness about city hall’s functions and its delivery machineries. Additionally, this department coordinate Local Agenda of the 21^st century towards sustainability development.
