Landscape department or Jabatan Landskap was established on 1st December 2003. In the past it was previously known as Jabatan Landskap dan Seni Taman. In its early stage, Jabatan Landskap was one of the divisions within the City Planning Department (Jabatan Perancangan Bandaraya) and named as Landscape Division or Bahagian Landskap that began operation in the year 1999. Due to changes and increasing needs, Bahagian Landskap was upgraded and became a department that leads the planning, controlling and maintenance of landscape and parks for Kota Kinabalu City Hall.
The Landscape department management currently operates from the main office at the DBKK Center Point Office and its 2.5-acre nursery located in Likas.
There are two divisions in the Landscape Department :
- The of Planning, design and development control division and
- The Operation management and landscape maintenance division
